GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN PASTORAL CARE OF HUMAN MOBILITY Offered by: Academic Contact: Areas of Interest: The SIMI Graduate Diploma in Pastoral Care of Human Mobility is an initiative of the Scalabrini International Migration Institute (SIMI), an academic institute established by the Scalabrinian Congregation (Missionaries of St. Charles) within the Pontifical Urbanian University, Rome. Such initiative is carried on in cooperation with the Pontifical Council for the Pastoral Care of Migrants and Itinerant People and the Australian Catholic Migrant and Refugee Office. The Graduate Diploma in Pastoral Care of Human Mobility is designed to provide pastoral agents in different part of the world with proper and accessible training in the pastoral care of human mobility. Migration is a growing global phenomenon and all indications suggest that it will remain an important aspect of the world's landscape. Economic interests and political and cultural considerations tend to view migration solely as an economic process, where migrants are just factors of production. The following are some of the challenges posed by migration to the Catholic Church: to present a different perspective, where migration becomes a component of dialogue among cultures and societies and migrants are viewed as human beings; to assist all people on the move upholding their dignity and promoting the development of their families, communities and nations; and; to build Christian communities capable of appreciating differences while celebrating the unity of faith. |
